Save A Sato is eligible to receive annual donations under the PR Act 20/22/60 (1101.01(a)(2)) & US Federal 501c3 Certified
- Rules for Act 60 and Act 22 Charitable Donations (PRADVANTAGE)
- Under Act 60, Investors are required to donate at least $10,000 annually, starting in their second year.
$5,000 of this must go to a charity on the CECFL list. This indicates it is an approved non-profit that helps to alleviate child poverty in Puerto Rico.
- The other $5,000 can go to any approved PR non-profit (certified under 1101.01 of the PR law, which is equivalent to 501(c)(3) in the mainland US).
- Many Act 22 Investors also have a requirement to donate $5,000 annually to PR charities.
No portion of this is required to go to a CECFL non-profit.
- The deadline each year to complete your donations is December 31 of that year.
Save A Sato is 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to easing the suffering of Puerto Rico's homeless and abused animals. "Sato" is slang for street dog.

There are many ways to help Save a Sato and our 300+ dogs and cats. We encourage you to spread the word about our work. You can share our Facebook and Instagram with friends, as well as our Petfinder.

We accept any donations that you want to make, to our satos at the shelter, and if you want to create a fundraiser in the name of the satos, we will really be grateful for that.
Any fundraiser made on Facebook, or on the GoFundme website is a good way to help us, and we have confirmed that after the end of any campaign, we receive the donations to our bank accounts in a matter of weeks.
But the best way to help our satos, fast and secure is by donations made on Paypal, directly to the shelter.
Even if you do not have a Paypal account you can enter your credit card on their website and you can make an secure online payment that we will receive in a matter of minutes. Because we are registered as a charitable non- profit organization, if you make a donation by this method, you will get a receipt by from them as evidence to report for your tax deductions.

Please remember that we rescue and rehabilitate homeless dogs from the streets of our island. We will not accept pets or the offspring of your pets. Please help us solve the overpopulation crisis in Puerto Rico and spay or neuter your pet.
We are located in San Juan at the north of the island. As much as we want to help every dog and cat, we don’t have the resources to travel to the east, south or west to rescue an animal. Please help with this task and if you see a homeless dog give him some food, some water, even shelter for a day. We have wonderful organizations all around PR who are also willing to help, contact them. But please don’t look the other way. You can become an hero and save a sato too!
